Cocktail Afternoon Tea at Fistral Beach Hotel

There’s nothing more British than afternoon tea! There’s something very civilised about having a selection of cakes and finger sandwiches on a cake stand. I don’t know why, but it’s always such a fun and enjoyable experience (I don’t get out much). I was delighted when Chris surprised me with a cocktail afternoon tea at Fistral Beach Hotel this afternoon. We have actually been before, I arranged it for Chris’s birthday a couple of years ago. It was just as I remembered it – delectable! It combines two of my favourite things – cocktails and cake! As you all know I like to eat a healthy diet, but I’m a big believer in balance. That means I don’t deprive myself of cake, chocolate, sweets etc. I just don’t eat it every day (apart from over Christmas when chocolate is acceptable for breakfast, lunch and dinner).

If you’re looking to do something a little different one afternoon then I definitely recommend trying Fistral’s afternoon tea! It’s also a great idea for birthdays, hen parties etc. I love the cocktail element – it adds a quirky twist to the traditional afternoon tea. They do a fabulous selection of cocktails, I went for ‘Gin & Jam’ – yum! Chris had a Mojito, but a weakened version as he was driving. Both cocktails were amazing – so fresh and zingy!

The food was just perfect. Every single element was made to perfection. Everything tasted fresh – the scones were even warm! It was all so moreish. I found it all very filling, but Chris was happy to clear the plates! We had Molly with us so it was a little tricky at times to keep her entertained, but as soon as I gave her little pieces of the sandwiches she was happy munching away!  They had highchairs available and everything seemed reasonably clean (as far as highchairs go). The only drawback if you’re taking little ones is that there aren’t any baby changing facilities. That was a bummer for us as Molly decided to push out a big poop during lunch – standard. However, we just changed her in the boot of our car which was fine.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone. It’s also a beautiful location! Click here to have a look at the afternoon tea menu and book a table.
